Introduction.
Hello all, we have been almost socially dormant for a while and have almost become a word-of-mouth cult. I would like to cover two main topics in this article: What we have acheived so far, and what we will be doing for the rest of semester 2.
What we have done so far.
Since founding the society, we have successfully launced the student magazine, and over 3 iterations have carefully refined it to something we are happy with. Through members and non-members alike providing constructive and insightful feedback we have managed to make LOCH-IN into exactly what we envisioned - an accessible publication that virtually anyone can have a role in.
Issue 03 is currently available via our archive (accessible through our LinkTree) or in Liberty's (Student Union Cafe) if you would prefer a physical peruse. If you haven't already got the chance to read this then act fast; Issue 04 should be replacing it within the next fortnight! We have received some fantastic submissions and can't wait to share this with you! It's titled 'Anniversary' as it was around a year ago that we were affiliated and constitutionalised!
In terms of events, we are currently running on a schedule of meeting weekly. Each Tuesday at 4pm we meet in the wellbeing cabin (shack behind the GRID) for general socialising purposes, with tea and biscuits and usually card games. This works quite well for us as people can just drop in and out as they please and there is no obligation to bring anything to the table or actually be interested in what we do. Please feel free to come along if you haven't been before!
What we will be doing.
We will continue our weekly meetings as they work well for us. Issue 04 - as previously mentioned - will be available by the end of February, and we are currently investigating the prospect of having Issue 05 out before the Semester 2 exam period but aren't sure how feasible this will be. A zine-making workshop is currently being brainstormed for potentially week 8 or 9, so we will keep you all updated on that via our mailing list or WhatsApp chat.
