When did you join the Student Union as a volunteer?

I became a volunteer for the Student Union in January 2024. I discovered the opportunity on our university's website, which offers various volunteer positions.

Why did you join?

I joined the Student Union's pre-loved clothing shop, Reloved, where I’m doing my part to promote sustainability on campus. By encouraging students to buy pre-loved clothes, I aim to tackle the challenges of fast fashion and inspire more eco-friendly choices.

What did you enjoy most about volunteering?

What I enjoyed the most about volunteering was being social and meeting a lot of new people. It gave me the chance to connect with others and work together towards shared goals, which made the experience even more rewarding.

What’s one thing you didn’t expect?

One thing I didn’t expect was the incredible sense of fulfilment I felt from volunteering. Knowing that my efforts were making a positive difference, whether through promoting sustainability or supporting others, was truly rewarding and unexpected.

Would you recommend volunteering?

Yes, I would absolutely recommend volunteering! Our team is friendly, and the working environment is both welcoming and supportive. It’s a great way to contribute, grow, and connect with amazing people.

Any Surprises?

I was pleasantly surprised by how consistent I was every week, even with my busy schedule of assignments. It was rewarding to see how I could prioritise and make time for volunteering, showing my commitment to something I truly care about.
