Holly VP Academic
Hey! My three semester one highlights are:
Working at events!
Taking part in so many fun events, where I was either able to lead or support
Such as Freshers Week! Or more recently handing out hot drinks to students studying on campus.
Helping our Academic Reps!
Empowering and strengthening our existing academic rep structure in both Galashiels and Edinburgh campus.
Improving the student experience
Working collaboratively with the University to improve the student experience. Some examples include consolidation week and feedback on assessments!

Money secured for you!
A highlight is securing money for student-led cultural events, so if you have any upcoming events, get in touch! We’ll be sending around an online form next semester if you have any ideas for upcoming events!
Building on the Tuesday Pub Quiz
The Tuesday Pub Quiz continues to be a highlight of my week! Seeing the group of regular teams grow week after week, all competing for the number one spot is really rewarding!
On top of that, I'm really proud that a variety of them have been charity fundraisers for the likes of Scottish Action for Mental Health, Shrub Coop a local Zero Waste Hub, and Movember.
Activity in Gala!
Events in Galashiels this year have been a massive highlight!
We've been building on all the success we had last year, and taking that forward into this year!
Highlights include the Gala Watt Welcome Fair. We had a whopping 45 stalls and over 100 students coming along with a real buzz about the place!
Our first-ever Red Carpet event at Macarts had our students dressing to impress and competing on the catwalk - a spectacle to see!
Finally, Galaween, need I say more! The event is such a staple from last year that saw even crazier engagement and costumes this year.

What a semester it’s been! Looking back, there have been so many brilliant moments, and I’m so grateful to have been part of it all. Here are some of the highlights that stood out for me:
Freshers Week
Freshers Week was an absolute whirlwind of excitement as the first big event of the year. From the mixers to the club nights, it was amazing to see new students diving straight into uni life with us. Helping to bring all of that together and seeing people make friends and settle in was such a rewarding experience – and a lot of fun too!
Wellbeing Week
Wellbeing Week was something I poured a lot of time into, and seeing it all come to life was incredibly special. There was something for everyone, from puppy yoga (yes, actual puppies!), to arts and crafts, to the Feel Good Fest packed with activities to help students relax and recharge. Watching everyone get involved and take a breather from the chaos of uni life made it all worth it.
Winter Fest
Winter Fest was one of my favourite parts of the semester. We had reindeer on campus, an incredible craft fair showcasing so many unique and handmade items from our incredibly talented students, and even the chance to get creative with some festive crafts. The whole campus had such a cosy, festive vibe, and it was brilliant seeing everyone getting into the holiday spirit.
