Our first official event took place on the Saturday of Freshers Week. Along with 25 of our new recruits, we hit Portobello beach and cleared up 15kg of trash over 2 miles of Portobello.
This beach clean was in partnership with Surfers Against Sewage who provided us with the reusable binbags and gloves that you can see in the image. Even though Portobello is known as one of the cleaner beaches in Edinburgh, and is regularly taken care of, we were surprised at how much rubbish slipped through the cracks.
It was so great meeting so many enthusiastic new members who want to make a positive change! We loved the energy you all brought to the event.
Following the beach clean we had a lovely BBQ and relaxed after an afternoon cleaning up the beach.
