We’re Heriot-Watt University Student Union, an independent charity run by students, for students. Everything we do - from our Advice Hub to our societies and events - is about making student life better. We reinvest every penny from Liberty’s Café, Geordies Bar, and the Union Shop straight back into student services.

Role Overview 

As a Student Executive Officer, you’ll be part of a team that helps steer the Union’s direction. You’ll set Union policies, decide on priorities, and work with Full-time Officers to make sure the Union is working for students. 

No experience? No problem. We’re looking for passionate students who care about shaping student life - not politicians. 

What You’ll Do 

• Make big decisions by setting the Union’s student policies and priorities. 

• Help shape strategy by deciding what the Full-time Officers should focus on. 

• Think critically to work through challenges and find solutions that benefit students. 

• Collaborate with others to ensure student life is the best it can be. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Listen to student feedback and help ensure the Union responds to their needs. 

• Participate in decision-making to shape Union student priorities and policies. 

• Contribute to the long-term vision and strategic planning of the Union. 

• Work with Full-time Officers to support projects that benefit students.
