Salary

This role pays £18,720 per year (salary has been pro-rated for part-time hours).

Hours

The role will work 30 hours per week, working 6 hours per day, 5 days per week. Mainly working during the day, but some evening and weekend work may be required.

Interview

Interviews will take place week commencing 11th November 2024

Job Duration

We have some flexibility regarding the role, offering University term-time only options if it better suits the successful candidate.

Role Overview

As a Catering Assistant, you’ll be whipping up delicious dishes and creating a welcoming dining atmosphere at our bustling Student Union venues. It’s your hard work that will keep our students fueled up and ready to face their days with a smile.

What You’ll Do

  • Culinary Craft: Prepare, cook, and serve mouthwatering meals that keep everyone coming back for more.
  • Service Star: Provide top-notch service to every student and guest, making their meal experiences memorable.
  • Clean Team: Keep your workspace spotless and sanitary, ensuring a safe eating environment for everyone.
  • Event Ready: Help us cater events that are the highlight of our student calendar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Food Prep Excellence: Ensure all food prep is done to the highest standards, following health and safety guidelines.
  • Dynamic Service: Engage with our students and staff warmly, making sure each order is perfect and delivered with a smile.
  • Efficient Operations: Manage your tasks efficiently, from operating the till to handling customer payments and queries.
  • Team Player: Work collaboratively with the kitchen and front of house team to deliver an outstanding dining experience.

principal duties

  • Preparing, cooking and serving food to customers
  • Preparing and serving drinks to customers
  • Operating the till and handling customer payments
  • Provision of service to table and clearing as needed
  • Compliance with current regulations and legislation relevant to the post.
  • Opening and closing the outlet.
  • Dealing with customer enquiries or complaints
  • Support to deliver event catering as required

other duties

  • Any other duties deemed appropriate for the role by the Line Manager.
  • Comply with all HWUnion policies, procedures, and governing documents.
  • Undertake personal and professional development as required to maintain appropriate knowledge and skills.
  • These duties are a guide to the work that the post holder will initially be required to undertake. Other duties or a change of duties may be necessary from time to time.
