Rate

up to £12 per hour

Hours

This role will have varied hours, with shifts primarily being in the evening and weekends of around 6 hours. You are asked to commit to working at least 2 shifts per week during term-time.

Interview

Interviews will take place 21st - 23rd August 2024 to ensure we have the right team in time for Freshers Week. If you are unable to attend an interview in this period, we will not be able to offer you a place on the team.

Job Duration

This role's contract will start with 3 days of training 27th - 29th August 2024. The contract will end on the last day of the academic year in May 2025.

Role Overview

Principal Duties

  • Carry out general shop duties e.g. serving customers and dealing with customers enquires, taking orders, cash handling and till operations
  • Ensure well stocked shelves and replenish as necessary, following Team Leaders instructions
  • Maintain a high standard of stock knowledge to assist customers
  • Assisting in the processing of deliveries and replenishment of stock on the shop floor as instructed by the Retail Team leaders
  • Dealing directly with those delivering goods in a professional manner
  • Supporting the implementation of shop promotions
  • Carrying out general cleaning duties and maintain hygiene standards in line with legislation and organisation policy.

Other Duties

  • Any other duties deemed appropriate for the role by the Line Manager.
  • Comply with all HWUnion policies, procedures, and governing documents.
  • Undertake personal and professional development as required to maintain appropriate knowledge and skills.
  • These duties are a guide to the work that the post holder will initially be required to undertake. Other duties or a change of duties may be necessary from time to time.

Person Specification

If you have most of the criteria, we encourage you to apply, and welcome transferable skills from other industries or backgrounds. It’s unlikely that we will find a candidate with all the skills below, but preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate experience across a number of these areas in their application and interview.

Training

In order to accept this role, you must be available to attend mandatory training - the times and dates are shown below and you must attend all dates / times listed. This training is not optional and you will be paid, but you must be able to attend in-person. We have high standards that we intend to maintain, so require all staff to complete training prior to Freshers Week and the academic year starting.
