So you fancy standing for a position in the elections? Read on to find out how to stand (nominate) yourself, and then how to manage your nomination by uploading a photo or adding your manifesto.
How-To Stand in the Election
The first thing you need to do is nominate yourself. It's really simple to do through our website..

Login to our Website
Log in to our website, using the login button in the top right-hand corner of each page
Make sure you use the Student Login option and login with your HW username and password!

Go To the Elections Homepage
Head over to hwunion.com/elections/home. If voting is open, you will see a large, green "Vote Now" button at the bottom - click it

First time you've done this?
- Click "Stand in Election"
- You will see your "Profile", confirm the details are correct and that you accept the Ts & Cs, then click "Save"

Been here before?
- Click "Review Nominations"
- You will see a reminder of your Profile information (you can update it if you want, otherwise let's move on...

Review Nominations
Underneath the Your Details section, you'll now see "Review Nominations". This is where it all happens. Each position in the election is listed along with more information.

Click "Stand"
Under the position your want to go for, click the "Stand" link. You will then be asked to confirm you want to stand for the position - click the "Submit Nomination" button (once you do this, you will have to contact us if you change your mind!).

Wow, You've done it!
That was simple wasn't it?! Your nomination will show as "Pending" until the Deputy Returning Officer double-checks you are elligible to stand. You can move on to the next stage if you want, or sit back in the knowledge you're on your way to getting elected!

Click "Upload"
Under the "Manifesto" title on any positions you are standing for, you will see the Upload Link (changes to "Edit / Read" once you've done these steps).

Upload Candidate Photo
Here you can upload the photo that will appear next to your name for the election for this position. For the Student Union main elections, we will add your official photo here for you. If you are running for more than one position, you need to upload your photo for each one.

7.
Add a Slogan
Here you can insert a short slogan about yourself, that will be displayed alongside your name during voting.

Add Manifesto
This section let's you add your manifesto - the list of things you will do if you get elected. Voters can click to view your manifesto during the voting process, to help them make a decision.

Click "Finish"
When you're happy click "Finish". You can edit these options any time you want, by following the steps above, up until the voting opens for the election.
