Hi, I’m Linda!
I am the CEO of Edinburgh Women’s Aid – an organisation which provides support and advocacy services to women, children and young people affected by domestic abuse.
I have an MSc in Community Learning and Development and I have been working in the third sector in Birmingham and Edinburgh as a manager, trainer and facilitator since 1994.
I have been part of the Women’s Aid movement in Scotland since 2009 and served on the board of trustees of Evaluation Support Scotland between 2013 and 2019. I am passionate about social activism and engagement and how this brings about positive change in society, and as such I’m very excited now to be part of HWU Trustee group. I hope that I can use my experience to support the new generation of social activists and change-makers.
As you can see from my photograph I love cycling and travel (keen eyes might spot that I’m sporting an Edinburgh Marathon Festival t-shirt - I also enjoy a wee run now and then). In my spare time, I volunteer for UK Breeze, a project to get more women onto bikes by leading small groups of women on guided rides in their local area, Maybe if any HW students are budding cyclists we can get a group going around campus!
