Here you can find all our important documents detailing how we’re run, what we’ve consulted on and what our policies are.

Governance

Important stuff about how we're run.

Annual General Meeting

The AGM gives our members (Heriot-Watt students) the chance to ask us about what we've been doing over the past year. We've been busy making your student life better and we're proud of our work, so we'd love to answer your questions. The AGM also gives you the opportunity to raise any issues you think that we should be dealing with.

Environment and Ethics

We all take a part in improving our environment. Our Union believes we must take a positive approach and encourage students and the University to help and support environmental practices such as recycling and good ethical practices e.g. buying Fairtrade products.

Trustee Board Minutes

As a charity we have trustees who oversee the Union and how it's run and ensure we're carrying out our aims & objectives. The trustees will hold a minimum of 4 meetings in any Academic Year.

Minutes of the most recent meeting need to be approved by the committee members at the next meeting. This is to make sure they are a true representation of the meeting, so there may be a slight delay before minutes are published.

Policies

Here is our current list of policies. Policies shape what we do as a Union and are a result of a clear mandate from the student population.

You can change things and submit your ideas for policies to us. Tell us your idea to get the ball rolling. ?

Consultation

From time to time we're consulted by local & national government on issues of importance to students. Below you can see the responses the Union has given following consultance with students.

Financial Accounts

They speak for themselves.

Access

We take the issue of accessibility very seriously. We have been audited by Attitude is Everything and have received a Bronze Award for being an accessible entertainment venue.

The Union is an accessible building with all its entertainment space on the ground floor. We have disabled toilet facilities and well trained staff who will make sure you have a great time at the Union. We also have a lift for our office and meeting rooms on the first floor.

We'll do everything we can to help you make sure you enjoy the Union's events so please do get in touch with any accessibility requests.

2 for 1 - with an enabler

If you would like to bring an enabler along to any ticketed event we offer a 2 for 1 deal. Simply come in to the Union, call or drop us an e-mail.

Viewing platform

The Union has a dedicated viewing platform in Zero Degrees and can have this in place for most events. If you’d like to request this for a specific event please call or email us.

Early entry

If you would like to have early entry to an event please call or email us and we would be happy to arrange this.

Induction loop

We have a portable induction loop in the Union and can have this available for visitors at any time. Just ask Reception when you arrive.

Access address book

When you contact us to let us know what access needs you have - we will store this information in a secure file so that when you next come in you don’t have to go through the same process again. Just let us know when you’re coming in and we’ll make sure everything is sorted.
